With German Water Partnership on Delegation Trip to China, GWP Press Release 11/2010

The GWP-members on delegation

Together with the German Chambers of Commerce (AHK) in Beijing and Shanghai, the German Water Partnership carried out a delegation trip with the subject 'Water Management' from October 31 to November 6 to Shanghai, Wuxi, Changzhou and Beijing. 25 members of German Water Partnership e. V., the network of the German Water industry and research, attended the trip supported by the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology. Most of the participants are committed to GWP's Country Forum: China tying up the existing contacts and the know-how in reference to China, as well as continuing to build up the cooperation with important partners in China.

The delegation of the German water industry also visited the annual conference of the Chinese Urban Water Association (CUWA). During this event in Wuxi with about 2,000 participants the GWP-members had the opportunity to meet with decision makers, a chance for exchange and to make an initial approach, which by their own account would not be possible without GWP. At the workshop 'China-Germany Symposium on Water and Development' the GWP-members LAR Process Analysers AG, Hermann Sewerin GmbH and the Institute WAR of the Technical University of Darmstadt gave their presentations about the German industry and development to more than 100 listeners.

Further items on the agenda were meetings with the Environmental Protection Bureau in Shanghai, as well as the Environmental Protection Authority in Changzhou in reference to urban and provincial environmental protection plants. In Beijing, as well as a meeting with the water department of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MoHURD), a competently guided tour through two WWTPs (constructed by Passavant-Roediger, WABAG) was also scheduled. Besides the business briefings from the AHK Shanghai, econet China and AHK Beijing the business meetings with Chinese business partners and companies as well as representatives of economy and politics rounded up the trip.

On their return the members of GWP, among them members of industry and research such as Binder GmbH, Hermann Sewerin GmbH, Huber SE, the Institute WAR of TU Darmstadt, LAR Process Analysers AG, the Chair for Fluid Dynamics of University Erlangen, Microdyn-Nadir GmbH, Passavant-Geiger GmhH, SebaKMT- Seba Dynotronic Mess- und Ortungstechnik GmbH, SIV.AG, the German Engineering Association VDMA and Wetech – Institure for Water and Environmental Technology attested that the journey together had been very worthwhile. 'Shanghai, Wuxi and Changzhou were valuable events, on which we could enhance our relations and contacts on a political level', reported Robert Binder enthusiastically. 'Besides the Chinese contacts for me it was most important to make plans with the GWP-members as how we together can get further into the market. Hitherto there were good approaches, which we will deepen at the upcoming meeting of the Country Forum: China. Hence, for Binder GmbH time and money have been profitably invested.'
